The API (Application Program Interface) Plug-in is for developers. It adds a series of functions that developers can use to make DOT.TUNES perform specific tasks.

There are a number of advanced API features contained in this plug-in including an XML response server where arguments can be passed in the url requesting DOT.TUNES to return xml data. It also contains an SQL method allowing developers to make direct SQL calls to the DOT.TUNES database with the results returned as XML.

Additionally, the API plug-in contains a URL Alias folder which enables the administrator to create text files containing long URLs, which become aliases so that a short DOT.TUNES web address triggers a longer more complicated URL.

The most powerful of the API features is a template system involving tags, SQL commands and the power to fully customize the DOT.TUNES interface.

Make your DOT.TUNES Web Pages pop with artwork from all your album covers with the ARTWORK Plug-in.

The ARTWORK Plug-in adds a new window to DOT.TUNES which extracts the album artwork from your music collection and saves both a large and thumbnail version. These images are then served within the web interface.

The ARTWORK Plug-in also gives you new way to browse your tracks via the web interface - Album Cover view. The letters of the alphabet are listed across the top of the page. Click a letter and you'll see the album covers starting with that letter. Click an album cover to reveal the tracks in that album. Click a track to play. It's that simple.

The FILE SERVER Plug-in turns your DOT.TUNES into a web server capable of serving virtually any file. DOT.TUNES creates a new 'Shared' folder in Preferences, and any file you place in that folder can be downloaded by authorized users.

The FILE SERVER Plug-in helps you get at the files you need when you need them, and it also allows you to share those files with anyone you chose.

The LOGS Plug-in allows you to see which files your users have been downloading from your DOT.TUNES server. With LOGS you can now keep track of all activity on your DOT.TUNES server.

Once the LOGS Plug-in is installed a logs folder is created in Preferences and a new log file is created for each user account. For example when a username:Greg downloads a file the date, time, and file name are added to a log file called greg.txt.

The log files are tab delimited and can be imported into Excel or other graphing apps.

DOT.TUNES 4 reads your iTunes XML file and imports all the Track, Artist, Album and Playlist info into the DOT.TUNES Database. But there is more information hidden inside each audio file. This additional info is called MetaData.

The METADATABASE Plug-in adds a new Window to DOT.TUNES allowing you to scan every single file in your iTunes library, at amazing speed, and import additional fields, such as Lyrics and Comments, into the Database.

You can also control how much data is imported. All data from all files or just the data from a specific album or artist.

With this plug-in, you get a custom designed flash ratings player which loads under each track. By simply clicking the rating stars underneath the track the user sends the new rating to iTunes.
